Our History

Williams Grand Prix Engineering Ltd is founded by Frank Williams and an ambitious British engineer called Patrick Head. The company is based in an empty carpet warehouse in Didcot, Oxfordshire, and enters a purchased March chassis in order to compete in F1 during the latter half of the season.

Paul graduated in 2002 with a first-class Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Southampton. 

Paul started his motorsport career at Penske Cars as an aerodynamicist working on the IndyCar development project. Three years later, Paul focused on Penske’s American Le Mans Series project in the same role. At the start of 2006 Paul moved to America to join the Penske Racing Team as Lead Aerodynamicist.

In 2008, Paul carried out the same role for Penske’s NASCAR campaign for 12 months before moving into a management role for the Design Office until 2011.

Early in 2011, Paul moved back to the UK and joined Williams as the team’s Trackside Aerodynamicist. In 2014, he became Team Leader for Trackside Aerodynamics and in 2018, takes on the role of Race Engineer for Sergey Sirotkin.
