Williams Announces 2018 London Marathon Entry

12 Mar 2018

Williams is delighted to announce its entry into this year's London Marathon, as part of a fundraising effort in support of the team's Official Charity, the Spinal Injuries Association.

Six Williams staff members, dubbed the "Superstar Six", have put down their smart phones, closed their laptops and turned their out-of-office's on to begin training for next month's gruelling 26.2-mile marathon on 22 April.

Williams and the SIA have set-up a fundraising page with a target of £12,000 for the Superstar Six to achieve. This is on top of their many training sessions, ice baths and normal daily working hours.

The team's line-up features a mix of experience and youth, with several Marathon rookies ready to step-up to the challenge.

Williams' Chief Information Officer, Graeme Hackland, has completed multiple marathons and will lead the team's development with his extensive experience. Marketing Director, Chris Murray, will enter his third marathon, just ahead of Williams' General Counsel, Mark Biddle, and the team's Head of Partner Management, Amanda McReynolds, who each embark on their second. Williams' HR Director, Nicola Salter, and Strategy & Analytics Manager, Rebecca Dyer, are the team's rookie runners.

Pre-season testing for the upcoming Formula One season officially got underway last month with the team's 2018 challenger, the FW41, taking to the track at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya. Williams decided to send a number of its Superstar Six out on track in the evenings, following the daily F1 sessions, with reliability and performance key areas of focus, for both the car and runner.

Follow the team's social media channels to keep-up-to date with the team's progress off-track. Through Virgin Money Giving, you can sponsor the Superstar Six with donations quickly processed and passed to the SIA: https://goo.gl/4QxCFY
